Tomorrow, you will all be compelled to participate in the annual gymnastics tradition that is Ironman Regionals. It's seven straight hours of frenetic gymnastics watching, multitasking-based panic attacks, third-person auditory hallucinations, spontaneous Miss Val impressions, alcoholism, narcolepsy, uncontrollable blindness spells, dislocated bladders, and ultimately acceptance, during which you will need to commandeer all adjacent devices while clinging to the pipe dream that you'll actually be paying attention at the right time when something important happens.
As part of that pipe dream, I've put together my annual combined rotation schedule for all the meets, providing a rough estimate of when each team should be competing on each event for all your circling and highlighting and browser-window-prioritization needs. I allow 30 minutes per rotation, which usually ends up being close to accurate in most locations because of all the marching and the waiting and the byes. Oh god, the byes. There's always a location or two that ends up slow as molasses for no reason and gets behind schedule, but this should be a relatively close overview of the timing.
Yeah, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Michigan, and Oregon State are all on beam at the same time. This is well planned. 6:00-7:00 ET is going to be a hellscape.
And now...the meets! Here's everything you could possible need to know. I'll add links as they become available. Teams have not been on top of it with the scoring links so far...

If anyone has a link for one or more of the regionals to somewhere those of us who don't have cable could watch it-- one of those sites that just streams live content from a certain channel maybe?-- I would be really grateful if they would post it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNone of the regionals are on TV. You will be able to watch them all online. The only ones you'd need cable login info for are Athens and Tuscaloosa and those might turn out to be free.
DeleteTwo are on the SEC using the ESPN app. Utah is live streaming all for events.

DeleteActually it would seem most of the regionals are being aired live. Iowa is live streaming for free and so is Minneapolis.
DeleteWatched UCLA, Washington, and Utah practice. UCLA's team was having quite the dance party but their bars were atrocious. Peng Peng was practicing with a heavily taped knee but looked out of practice. Lots of folks overarching handstands and coming off. Almost no stuck landings and several to their knees or butts. Floor looked like their usual. Didn't see much of their vault or beam but Nush was struggling with her series.
ReplyDeleteStover is back on beam for Utah. Maybe a little rusty at first but warmed up and looked solid. Rest of the team looked pretty solid too. Bars looked really good with Kassandra's release sky high! They finished on vault and didn't do too many. Kailah is nursing some sort of injury (knee?) and only did one dance through on floor. Erika Muhaw actually had a really sharp floor practice compared to what I've seen this season!
Although they're looking much better, UCLA and Utah are both head and shoulders ahead of Washington. Watching the Sac State girls was interesting. Some different moves we don't see from the more televised schools. Lauren Rice is doing the family name good on beam! Both ladies were getting a lot of support from UCLA and Utah. Farden treated the fans to a performance of the worm to wrap things up. So excited for tomorrow!
